Softball coaches named staff of the year
Softball head coach Leticia Pineda-Boutté and assistant coaches Kris Caldwell and Stacy Mui have been named the 2007 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Midwest Region Coaching Staff of the Year, as announced by the association.
Pineda-Boutté guided the Bears to a 35-7 overall record in 2007, the third-most wins in school history. The Bears won their fourth straight University Athletic Association (UAA) championship and appeared in the College World Series for the first time in school history.
Washington U. also won its first regional championship, and placed second at the NCAA Championship, its highest finish in school history.
In two seasons on the Danforth Campus, Pineda-Boutté has posted a 72-14 (.837) overall record, and has won two UAA championships.
