Medal of honor

Workers install a granite medallion at the center of Danforth Plaza on the east side of Brookings Hall. The medallion, which is 16 feet in diameter, welcomes visitors to the campus, to be named the Danforth Campus in honor of Chancellor Emeritus William H. Danforth, his late wife, Elizabeth (Ibby) Gray Danforth, the Danforth family and the Danforth Foundation in a Sept. 17 ceremony. In the next few days workers will be completing the Danforth Plaza, which will include a fountain, new landscaping, benches and bronze plaques that recognize their contributions to the University.
