The program will feature John H. Calvert, J.D., managing director of the Intelligent Design Network; and Lawrence M. Krauss, Ph.D., the Ambrose Swasey Professor of Physics, professor of astronomy and the director of the Center for Education and Research in Cosmology and Astrophysics at Case Western Reserve University.

"Discussions of national controversies, such as whether to teach intelligent design alongside evolution in public schools, only rarely occur openly, where the world can watch," said Terry Holekamp, a Medical Scientist Training Program student, who helped organize the program. "I think this hurts our democracy. We want to provide an unbiased forum for those public conversations that illuminate both sides of the issue."

Al Wiman, vice president of public understanding of science at the Science Center, will moderate the program.

The symposium is free and open to the public.
