Some of the studies deal with practical problems, others with basic abilities such as thinking, memory and perception. Current projects range from a study of the influence of personality on people's judgment of their problem-solving ability, to a project examining people's ability to detect changes in the visual world.

Some studies are conducted by mail or telephone; others are done in a laboratory at the University.

Volunteers often are paid a small honorarium in recognition of their contribution.
