The public is invited to hear cases focusing on whether a victim's unborn child is considered a "person" in a murder case; a utility company's liability in a car accident case involving live electrical wires; the statute of limitations in a wrongful death case; and due process in a drug conviction case.

The court periodically holds sessions in law schools as part of an educational program.

The panel of judges hearing oral arguments are Sherri B. Sullivan, chief judge; Kathianne Knaup Crane; Mary K. Hoff; and Glenn A. Norton.

After the special session, the judges will be available to answer general procedural questions from the audience.

To limit the amount of disturbances to the proceedings, visitors are asked to enter and exit the courtroom only during breaks between each attorney's oral argument.

Case briefs for the oral argument session will be on temporary reserve in the law school's library under "Eighth Circuit Special Session."
