Former president Jimmy Carter delivers an address as a guest of the School of Law in 1975 while he was still governor of Georgia. Carter returned to the University to speak as part of the Assembly Series on Feb. 28, 1991, when he gave an address in the Field House titled "Social Responsibility: Caring About Moral and Ethical Issues." He was the second member of his family to speak as part of the Assembly Series: his wife, Rosalynn, spoke in the 1984-85 year. The 2003 Assembly Series fall schedule kicks off with Columbia University president Lee Bollinger speaking on "The Foundations of the Principles of Academic Freedom" at 11 a.m. Sept. 10 in Graham Chapel. For more information on the Assembly Series, go to wupa.wustl.edu/assembly.
