Eighteen academic areas ranked in U.S. News' top 10

Eighteen WUSTL schools, academic areas and departments at the graduate and professional level now hold top-10 rankings in the U.S. News & World Report rankings of graduate and professional programs, released March 30.

Truman scholarships go to Arts & Sciences juniors

Arts & Sciences juniors A.J. Singletary and Paul Moinester have been awarded 2007 Harry S. Truman scholarships. Open to juniors interested in public-service careers, the scholarships provide $30,000 toward graduate study. Truman awarded 65 scholarships this year, selecting from among 585 candidates nominated by 280 colleges and universities. Washington University is one of only eight colleges to have more than one student selected for 2007.

'The Social Impact of a University' is topic of Jonathan F. Fanton talk

"The Social Impact of a University" will be presented by Jonathan Fanton, president of the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation at 4:30 p.m. April 5 in Brown Hall Lounge. This Danforth Lecture is sponsored by the George Warren Brown School of Social Work, the Gephardt Institute for Public Service and the Assembly Series.

Electronic Record popularity grows

Reader response to the electronic version of the Record has been favorable. Seven out of eight people opting out of receiving the print Record reported doing so because they prefer receiving the electronic version.

(From left) Andrew Krainik, M.D., Daniel Cooper, M.D., Sam Lubner, M.D., and Hilary Reno, M.D., Ph.D., all instructors in medicine and assistant directors of medical services in the Division of Medical Education and editors of the 32nd edition of "The Washington Manual of Medical Therapeutics," held a book signing recently at the Washington University Medical Bookstore. The Washington Manual, published by the Division of Medical Education, is used extensively by students, residents and physicians in medical schools worldwide and is published in 10 languages.

Limited parking in Danforth Campus temporary lot

On April 2 there will be limited parking available in the temporary lot near Graham Chapel to accommodate concrete pouring for the new parking garage.

Medical Campus shuttles temporarily detoured

Shuttle services will be temporarily detoured for the Metro grade crossing project starting April 5.

I-64/US40 construction updated on Web

The University has added a link to its Web page for easy access to the latest information on the Interstate 64/Highway 40 construction project.
