Words of wisdom
 Instead of getting his team fired up with movies or fire and brimstone, Larry Kindbom, WUSTL football coach, solicits motivational letters from successful people in all walks of life. He has received responses from people such as former U.S. Sen. Bob Dole, Vice President Al Gore, Southwest Airlines CEO Herb Kelleher, sportscaster Bob Costas and a host of other notables. This year, Kindbom's taken the responses and self-published a book, "Playbook of Champions," for his student-athletes.
Green Action offers electronics recycling on campus
 In celebration of America Recycles Day, Green Action, a WUSTL student group that seeks to raise environmental awareness on campus and in the community, will be holding its second-annual electronics recycling drive Nov. 15 in cooperation with Web Innovations and Technology Services (WITS), a local not-for-profit electronics recycler.
Homelessness Awareness Week
 An alliance of several student groups, all of which deal with an aspect of homelessness or poverty, has come together to organize Homelessness Awareness Week 2006. The goal during the week of Nov. 12 is to raise awareness of the Washington University and St. Louis communities about the prevalent yet neglected issue of homelessness both nation-wide and in the St. Louis area.
Bill Kohn: Journey at Bruno Gallery Nov. 17-Dec. 16
 The Bruno David Gallery, 3721 Washington Blvd., will present Bill Kohn: Journey, an exhibition of work by the late professor emeritus of painting, Nov. 17-Dec. 16. Kohn, who taught at Washington University for almost four decades, was known for large, colorful landscapes based on his travels around the world, to sites such as the Grand Canyon, Machu Picchu in Peru, the Duomo in Florence and Jaiselmer in India.

Parking & Transportation Services in cooperation with Residential Life will be offering airport transportation to students traveling for the Thanksgiving holiday.

 Renard Circle closure

On Nov. 13-14, the west drive of the Renard Circle at Children's Place on the Medical Campus will be closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic. A crane will block the drive while steel is erected between the CSRB and Northwest Tower.
