Zimmerman, 84 Herbert B. Zimmerman, M.D., a retired assistant professor of clinical medicine, died Thursday, Nov. 2, 2006, at Missouri Baptist Medical Center of congestive heart failure. Zimmerman earned a degree from the School of Medicine in 1951. He was principal investigator at the medical school for the Multiple Risk Factor Intervention Trial in the 1970s, which showed that treating risk factors could reduce the death rate of coronary heart disease.
