Wong, Satrapi and Strogatz to speak at Assembly Series

It's a busy week for the Assembly Series, with an actor, graphic novelist and mathmetician all scheduled to address the University community. Tony award winner B.D. Wong will give the talk "All the World's a Stage: From Exclusion to Inclusion" at 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 23, in Graham Chapel. Iranian-born graphic novelist Marjane Satrapi will discuss her work at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, in Graham Chapel. Cornell University mathematician Steven Strogatz will speak on "Sync: The Emerging Science of Spontaneous Order" at 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, in Rebstock Hall, Room 215.



English department to host memorial reading in honor of Charles Newman Oct. 26

The Department of English in Arts & Sciences will host a memorial reading in honor of Charles Newman, an acclaimed writer and longtime faculty member, who died last March at the age of 67. The event takes place at 8 p.m. Oct. 26 in Hurst Lounge. It will feature readings from Newman's work as well as reminiscences by friends and colleagues.

Give Thanks Give Back

Give Thanks Give Back is just getting started and there is plenty of time and plenty of ways to get involved. GTGB is WUSTL's annual holiday gift drive. It supports an organization called 100 Neediest Cases — a joint project of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and the United Way — which runs a holiday gift-drive to benefit the poorest families in St. Louis.

Safe Trick or Treat

Haunting season is fast approaching, and soon the South 40 will be seeing little ghosts and princesses and superheroes bustling about. Oct. 28 is the date for the Campus Y's Safe Trick-or-Treat program, co-hosted by Congress of the South 40.

Danforth Campus Flu Shots for students

Beginning Nov. 1, flu shots will be available to WUSTL students and their partners / spouses covered by student health insurance.

School of Medicine Flu Shots

Beginning Nov. 2, free flu vaccinations will be provided to School of Medicine employees with a valid identification badge. Employees must present their badge to obtain the vaccination.
