Schechter professorship
Samuel E. Schechter, M.D. (left), congratulates Gustav Schonfeld, M.D., at the Oct. 31 installation of Schonfeld as the first Samuel E. Schechter Professor of Medicine. The new professorship will continue to fund Schonfeld’s lifelong research on atherosclerosis and the prevention of coronary artery disease. Schonfeld and Schechter, professor emeritus of medicine and a 1941 alumnus, are colleagues and longtime family friends.
